Like a chef selecting the very best ingredients for a fine meal the same can be said for the efforts put forth by Silver Bell Winery’s Owner & Winemaker, Alan Holtzheimer, and wife, Diane in their winemaking. We go to great lengths to source the very best varietal specific vineyards. The goal is always the same - to make balanced wines which reflect the varietal characteristics of the grape and the vineyard they came from.

Prior to partnering with a vineyard we taste countless wines in order to develop a sense of taste and style for a particular region. We research the vineyards and the vineyard managers. We look for a pattern of superiority and consistency from the fruit and wines derived from a particular vineyard. Once a vineyard is selected we allow the vineyard managers to nurture the grapes to their full potential as only the people in tune with the land can do effectively. We fully believe this method provides us with the very best fruit possible. Once in the winery we become minimalists to an extreme with the belief that our influence in the wine making process should be to gently guide and protect the wine, not bully it into submission. Combined with patience and time, the results speak for themselves.

We also believe that Washington State produces the very best wine in the world. Our wines may require time to develop and open, but reward patience. This is our passion.
